'Diversity' is the key to the business in terms of what Sea Roamer Marine Services has to offer those who contract their services

"We became known for our work in the aquaculture sector," Muckle says, "But in recent years we have expanded and grown significantly in terms of what we can offer. The credo we try to follow in what we do is 'Innovative solutions to complex problems.' "

As follows are just some of what is offered by Sea Roamer Marine Services. Other options will present themselves as time goes by, Muckle says, because it is a progressive company that has the equipment and expertise to tackle almost any task British Columbia's 'working' coast might demand.

Aquaculture:

  • Assembly of fish farms, including pen systems, houses, feed sheds and other infrastructure elements for 50 fish farms on Vancouver Island and the Mainland coast.
  • Net installations and exchanges. With their crane barge they are easily equipped to pull 45-ton nets from the water.
  • Transport of fish. The delivery of smolts to the farms was originally 40 percent of Sea Roamer’s work. It still is a significant aspect and is accomplished by carrying fish-holding semi-trailers on board.
  • Ongoing maintenance at the various Marine Harvest operations along the coast.

Other Services Offered:

  • Transport of equipment and material, including logging equipment
  • Salvage work, including the raising of sunken equipment. "With our large crane, there’s not much we can’t lift from the bottom," Muckle says.
  • Anchor installation and inspection
  • Oil spill containment (Sea Roamer Marine is the agent for Burrard Clean)
  • House and trailer moving along the coast
  • General marine towing
  • Excavation and construction along and near shorelines
  • Dock building
  • Dock repairs
  • Training young people in the field

Key to much of what Sea Roamer carries out is their ongoing awareness of the larger picture of working in one of the most magnificent realms on the planet, and one that must be protected at all times from unnecessary encroachment violation. In that context Sea Roamer has been a major contender for the provincial Positive Aquaculture Awareness award every year of its operation.
